SHOUT OUT - Jump Ship getting to 100K Steam wishlists is a win for co-op space jolliness

NOTE: thatHITBOX Shout Out’s are not sponsored content. They’re games, developers, individuals, or issues that we want to highlight and share purely out of interest.

We’ve been cooking a dream theoretical concept for a game entitled “Space of Thieves” ever since we were a wee Borg cooking in a maturation chamber (what?!). More accurately, it was Rare’s seminal and jaunty Pirate adventure with a clearly similar name that laid the foundations for what would ultimately become our pitch of choice. Thankfully, developer Keepsake Games have stepped up and made it so.

Not only is the premise of a co-op sci-fi adventure that evokes Bridge Commander and Elite Force too irresistible to resist, the game has hit an important milestone having received 100,000 wishlist additions on Steam. It’s a major achievement in terms of engagement and positive sentiment for an indie team trying to make their mark.

Blending shipboard action with on foot, first person combat, this is every bit the curated sandbox we’ve been looking for. It appears as though Early Access will do this title a world of good, as something this ambitious (given the PC and Xbox release being planned) is bound to have a few teething problems. Let it cook, and set phasers to jolly.

TARPS?

At the bottom of some of our articles, you’ll see a series of absurd looking images (with equally stupid, in joke laden names). These are the TARP badges, which represent our ‘Totally Accurate Rating Platform’. They allow us to identify specific things, recognise positive or negative aspects of a games design, and generally indulge our consistent silliness with some visual tomfoolery.
